The Best Coffee Shops To Work From In Bellingham
We compiled a list of the best coffee shops in Bellingham to work from.
Makeworth Market – Bright Light & Lots of Space
makeworthmarket.com // 1201 N. State St. // @makeworth_market
Located in the central business district, Makeworth recently opened its flagship location in the Daylight building on State St. This gorgeous open concept “market” hosts retail space along with beer/wine, coffee, and a limited food menu. Grab a cup of Brother’s Coffee (their roaster of choice), and peruse locally made skincare, clothing, candles, and more, before finding a spot to sit down and plug in.
Bring your own cup on Wednesdays and receive a drip coffee for only a dollar. Hungry? Try a delicious sweet or savory toast from their menu.
Tony’s Coffee at The Harris Ave. Cafe – Historic Location
theharrisave.com // 1101 Harris Ave // @harrisavecafe
Tony’s Coffee is arguably some of the best coffee out there, and the company was founded in the historic Fairhaven neighborhood. The Harris Ave. Cafe shares a location with the original Tony’s Coffee.
This coffee shop is ideal for working because it is spacious, inviting, has wifi, and it serves not only coffee, but food too. So you can work without having to worry about your hanger getting the best of you.
The cafe is less than a 10 minute walk from the Greyhound Station. So whether you’re on the go or just looking for an inspiring place to work, we suggest you buy a freshly brewed latte (made with Tony’s coffee, of course) at The Harris Ave. Cafe.
Avellino – Home Away From Home
avellinocoffeehouse.com // 1329 Railroad Ave // @avellinocoffee
This coffee shop is located in downtown Bellingham next to The Bellingham Bus Station, a very convenient location for downtown commuters. While it is not very large coffee shop, the coffee is amazing and the staff is incredibly friendly.
When you walk through the door you’re greeted with a welcoming “hello” and the smell of freshly brewed coffee. The slightly dim lighting, smaller tables, and few sofas give off a very relaxed atmosphere and makes Avellino feel almost like a home away from home.
Not only does Avellino excel in delicious coffee, but they also serve amazing pastries. The creativity of the staff here is contagious, they do everything from foam art to making chai in-house for teas and lattes.
Other than comfort, if you’re working remotely, one of the most important things to have is Wifi, and Avellino delivers. From fast service to fast wifi, Avellino is definitely a great coffee shop to work from.
Union Coffee Shop – Convenient Location
theunioncoffee.com // 1203 N. State & 114 W. Magnolia // @unioncoffeeshop
Walking into this shop you are welcomed by not only the aroma of steaming hot Tony’s coffee but also the smell of breakfast. This is because the Union Coffee shop is located at the same address of the Daisy Cafe. You can even order food from the Daisy Cafe menu and eat it in the Union Coffee Shop.
Located right smack dab in the middle of downtown Bellingham it couldn’t be in a more convenient location.
Additionally, the tables are large enough to spread out and work, you can sit at a window or farther towards the back of the coffee shop if you prefer. It’s a great place downtown to get some good coffee and do some people watching in your down time.
This is a stellar coffee shop to work from when you need space, fast wifi, and to work for a long period of time. The staff is very hospitable and happy to keep the coffee coming for as long as you need to work – plus you can get full blown meals from the Daisy Cafe, what’s not to love?
The Black Drop – Great Coffee And Eclectic Clientele
blackdropcoffeehouse.com // 300 W Champion St // facebook.com/blackdropcoffeehouse
The Black Drop has long been a Bellingham staple, for good reason. Black Drop serves delicious coffee from Maniac Roasters as well as a bevy of specialty teas from The Spice Hut.
A current Intellitonic favorite is the “Lemon Grabber” which is a soda, lemon, and berry selection. Very refreshing when hammering through your emails and task list on a hot day.
Black Drop is great for sitting in among local authors and artists working on their latest opuses, and as a progressive establishment the owners cultivate an environment of openness and acceptance.
Anmly Cafe – Vegetarian Friendly & Sustainably Focused
anmlycafe.com // 119 N Commercial Street #130 // @anmlycafe
ANMLY is a refreshingly simple cafe located conveniently across the street from the Mt. Baker Theatre, in the ground floor of the historic Bellingham Towers. They have several small tables in front of their cafe, and a back room with a large table (which could be shared) for working. The coffee and speciality drinks are well made and the limited menu boasts nutrient dense, vegetarian-friendly fare. If you’re hungry, try the breakfast burrito with soy chorizo or the granola featuring Matcha chia pudding.
We like ANMLY because they are working towards zero waste in their kitchen and cafe. If you get coffee to-go expect a reusable glass jar!
Camber Coffee – A Little Bit Of Everything
cambercoffee.com // 221 W Holly St. // @cambercoffee
Camber feels like it should be in Seattle; it has clean lines and a very trendy, hip aesthetic. Because it is located downtown, it is the ideal place to watch your favorite locals pass by or to say hi to when they pop-in for a beverage.
Camber is a unique addition to the list as it offers more than just a conventional coffee shop. Camber has a morning menu, evening menu, and, wait for it, a happy hour menu. That’s right, when you’re done with your work you can unwind with a couple of drinks without leaving your table.
Camber is a stylishly decorated coffee shop with plenty of space to spread out and work in. The wifi is fast and the staff is hospitable. Their coffee is well known to be some of the best in Bellingham, and they also recently won ‘Best Roaster in Washington’ by Bon Appetit. If you’re looking for an all inclusive coffee shop located downtown then Camber is the cafe for you.
